Would you start your breakfast with a shot of spinach juice?  Well, what you may not know is that it helps curb your appetite. The University of Lund In Sweden published a very interesting study which made me look at spinach in an entire new light.

Professor Charlotte Erlanson-Albertsson and a team of researchers have identified a natural component known as thylakoids in spinach leaves and other similar greens that may help with weight loss and healthy weight management.

The interesting study involved two groups of individuals. The first group received a shot of spinach extract at Breakfast every morning and the second group received what amounted to be a placebo. The first group as a result felt more satisfied throughout the day and need not snaking and had no sugar craving. Their blood sugar stayed leveled through the day. They also had higher level of “satiety hormones” in their blood, that signal at the brain level that we are full.
According to Erlanson-Albertsson, thylakoids are made up of “…hundreds of substances—galactolipids, proteins, vitamin A, E, K, antioxidants, beta-carotene, lutein, and so on…” that delay fat digestion and help us feel full longer between meals. No wonder mom always said to eat your greens and spinach especially!

The only catch is that has to be in Juice form  or fresh.

So to your health a shot of spinach for your breakfast!.
